About USID
USID Foundation India is a community initiated to bring together User Experience community including Design, Human Factor Engineering, Anthropology, Human-Computer Interaction, Product Management, Marketing and Technology professionals, students, researchers and academician and researcher and provide them a platform to engage, share, exchange and spread the knowledge and information related to research, design, practice in these domains to help making the technology usable and accessible by the end user irrespective of their abilities, education, socio-economic conditions. USID Foundation is also trying to enagege and explore how the technology can help in socio-economic development especially among the rural and economically weaker population.
It started as a monthly meeting at CA (formerly Computer Associates) office bringing around 50 people together from Design, HCI & Technology domain in May 2006. Since then this community has grown to 350+ members. This gathering in form of monthly meeting now has grown substantially. Today along with a 3 day India International User Experience annual conference, USID Foundation India it includes many other events/activities like Annual Design Challenge, Call for Papers, Academic showcase, Workshops and Seminars, Launch Pods etc. are being organised on regular basis. Considering the opinion from the community, USID Foundation India has recently initiated the idea of having Local chapters of USID Foundation to organise city/state level events more regularly and multiply the efforts. Taking this forward, USID Delhi & NCR and USID Hyderabad Local Chapters were launched recently.
USID Events are being participated by representatives from variety of industries, organisations, research & educational institutions all across the design, new media, information technology, hardware/software, manufacturing, education & training, etc. USID Foundation India events are being regularly supported by the industry and professional organisations including CA, Forum Nokia, Microsoft Research, Intuit, User Lab Asia and HYSEA etc. apart from other sponsor including SAP, Tobii, SMI, Colayer and Pramati Technologies, etc on event basis.
USID Foundation has also extended it’s collaboration internationally with other organisation like UPA China etc. and in the process of extending such collaboration and partnership with other like minded organisations.The professionals, students, academician, researcher and others from Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Anthropology and Technology domain are the core of this efforts and we always very keen to hear from all of them on how this forum can be made more effective and valuable not only to these domains but to the overall society. So please do send us your ideas, inputs and suggestions to make this happen and be part of this movement.
