Academic Showcase - Speed Round
 
As part of the USID2009 events, USID2009 organizing a session “Microsoft - USID Academic Showcase - Speed Round” to provide opportunities to the students of selected premier design and technology institutes to showcase/present their academic projects (related to the conference theme of DESIGN FOR ALL: Usability, Accessibility & Creativity) during the USID2009 conference. USID Foundations has selected your esteemed institute to be part of this and invite you to participate in the same to and showcase your best student project.

  2. IDC, IIT Mumbai
  3. Department of Design, IIT, Guwahati
  4. IDDC, IIT Delhi
  5. Dept. of Design, IIT Kanpur
  6. Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore,
  7. International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore
  8. International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad
  9. Shristhi School of Design, Bangalore
  10. Symbiosis Institute of Design, Pune
Format of the Session:
Each of the project team will be given maximum 10 minutes to present their projects to the audience of the USID2009 Conference. Presentation will be hard stopped after 10 minutes. It’s up to the team how they want to present, a PPT presentation or a product Demo. The presentation should include the following:
  1. Problem statement /the Project goal,
  2. The process used
  3. The final outcome
  4. How the solution support the goal
Selection Process:
USID Foundation leaves the decision to the coordinating faculty of the respective institutions to select 1 or maximum 2 best projects to be included as part of the session. The chosen project must have some association with the overall theme of the conference. The coordinating faculty must confirm their participation by July 31st, 2009 and select the final project by August 21st, 2009. The selected projects presentation details (PPT/demo details and requirements) etc. must be submitted to USID Foundation by 31st August, 2009. The USID Foundation Panel will shortlist the final 10 projects to be presented during the USID2009 under Academic Showcase- Speed Round” session. USID foundation will inform the shortlisted projects to the respective faculty coordinators by 4th September, 2009 so that the participation can make the arrangements to participate in the USID2009. The respective faculty coordinators must inform and confirm the participation to the USID Foundation event coordinator by sending the email to usid@usidfoundation.org
 
What in for participating team?
The USID Foundations will offer free registration to all the 3 days of the conference to the students of the selected projects. Institution need to take care of the travel and lodging cost of the student which they select to present the project.
There will be voting by USID2009 conference audience (the process and details of voting process will be decided involving all the coordinating faculty of various institutions selected for the Academic showcase) to decided the best academic showcase. The best project selected by the audience will be awarded the Certificate/Trophy during the closing ceremony of the USID2009.
